ANIMALS FOR AFRICA
Children’s Lenten Project 2025
The Children’s Lenten Project is a 26-year tradition in which the school and religious education students contribute their Lenten alms to a specific project. In past years, the CLP Alms helped build wells in India, plant fruit trees in Haiti, and furnished Housing Forward apartments. This year’s CLP Project Harambee, NFP, “Animals for Africa” is helping to gift families with chickens, pigs and dairy goats to better their lives.
Project Harambee, NFP is a non-profit started by Dr. Kathleen Harrison from the Chicago area.
The future of every country lies in its children. HARAMBEE is dedicated to helping African families improve the lives of their vulnerable children. We do this by supporting sustainable community development projects in education, health care, and economics, projects that are not "charitable" but empowering; Africans don't want a handout, but a hand UP.
"All pull together" for social justice in Africa
Dairy goats--donated by YOU--are saving lives every day with their precious, rich milk. They are also building community because baby goats are shared with neighbors. Your gift keeps on giving!
Chickens will provide eggs for the children, a source of perfect nutrition, and chickens to sell for income. And of course there will be lots more baby chicks, ensuring sustainability.
A pair of Chickens is $20 A milking goat is $160 A pig $50
The Children’s Lenten Project 2024 goal is $6,000.
100 PAIRS OF CHICKENS 12 GOATS 40 PIGS
Catholic Social Teaching calls on us to live the gospel and, in doing so, transform the world. Your Lenten alms will help feed the poor.
Even if you are no longer a child, please know your participation in the CLP is encouraged and appreciated.
